Abstract

Due to the global depletion of fossil fuel reserves and various environmental issues, it is imperative to look for alternatives that can completely or partially replace written fuels. At present, coal-fired or peat-fired solid fuel boilers are the most commonly used for heating buildings [9]. The world produces 29,900,000 tones of peat a year [10]. In order to limit the use of peat as a solid fuel, we can replace mixtures with agricultural waste that cannot be burned alone. The global grain processing industry generates large amounts of waste every year. The worldwide harvest of buckwheat is 2 905 294 tones per year, of which around 1 000 000 tones are waste [4; 5]. Buckwheat husks with high calorific values, low ash concentration and high ash melting point. It is known that we cannot make granules from shells because they do not have binders of their own [8]. Thus, in order to use buckwheat husks as biofuels, we can mix them with peat, which contains a large amount of binders. There is a lack of detailed research in the current literature on the use of mixtures of different types of waste.

The aim of the study was to evaluate the biofuel properties of buckwheat husks and peat and their mixtures.

Tasks: - to determine the moisture and heat content of buckwheat husks and peat and their mixtures; - each quantity of ash and its abundance. - to determine the optimal mixture for biofuels.
